Nifty opened with a gap down of 10 points at 7717 and made a high of 7757. As I had mentioned yesterday that "the market is likely consolidate in the 7690-7750 range for the day", the broader indices remained stuck in this range. The bloodshed was present in the midcap & small cap indices. On the hourly charts the market has formed a Evening Star, which is bearish by nature in an uptrend. A move above the 7760 level will negate this pattern. The market can be shorted with the stop loss of 7780 on closing basis for the target of 7650.
The support for nifty is at 7700-7653-7600 and the resistance lies at 7775-7820-7882. Nifty August Future has
been trading at 7-8 points premium to the spot. The implied volatility on the
Nifty August Options of ATM strike calls were at 9.94 and for puts were at 14.13. India VIX closed at 13.7625.
PCR for Nifty based on open interest was at 1.03 and PCR for the day based on
volumes was at 0.97 for the market.
