Nifty Daily For 22nd August 2013

Nifty opened with a huge gap up of 93 points at 5494 and made top of 5505 and then sold off quickly. The move was essentially on the back of RBI and GOI promise that they will compensate banks for their losses on the bond portfolios. This lead to the rally in banks. But the rally faltered soon near the resistance of falling channel trend line and bank nifty sold off.
The support for nifty is at 5270-5225-5180 and the resistance lies at 5365-5420-5460. Nifty August Future has been trading at 10-11 points discount to the spot. The implied volatility on the Nifty August Options of ATM strike calls were at 22.36 and for puts were at 31.13. India VIX closed at 28.09. PCR for Nifty based on open interest was at 0.88 and PCR for the day based on volumes was at 1.22 for the market.
