Nifty opened gap up of 23 points at 5835 above the highs of yesterday. The open and low was same for nifty indicating the inherent bullishness in the markets. The gap up was strongly supported by the banking sector. Nifty made the high of 5864 near the resistance swiftly and kept trading in the range for the entire day. The bank nifty maintained its out performance (up 1.5% v/s 0.5% of nifty). The battered down stocks of PSUs showed signs of revival. With the surge in global liquidity due to various global bailout aids, market will remain in positive territory and start its move towards 5920.
The support for nifty is at 5840-5810-5785 and the resistance lies at 5890-5920-5945. Nifty July Future has been trading at 8-9 points premium to the spot. The implied volatility on the Nifty July Options of ATM strike calls were at 16.58 and for puts were at 21.01. India VIX closed at 19.32. PCR for Nifty based on open interest was at 1.4 and PCR for the day based on volumes was at 1.09 for the market. There was a massive call writing in 6000 strike and good amount of put writing seen in the 5800 strike today.
