The indices opened down with a gap and soon after opening spiked sharply lower and Nifty in the process registered a swing low of 5675.75. After the initial savage cut, semblance of sanity returned as bullish camp slowly and steadily tried stabilising the market mood and in the closing hour some healthy short covering was seen in beaten down sectors. The resultant pattern after all the chaos is a classical Dragon Fly Doji and the same has come after five consecutive days of lower closing. It has the potential of igniting a decent short covering rally towards 5850 or higher towards 5925-5945 bands. On the downside, break of yesterday’s low would once again reassert the trend in favour of bears and in that case target would be 5655. The intraday supports in Nifty are placed at 5710 and 5670, while the resistances for the day are seen at 5790 and then at 5848.
Nifty August Future has been trading at 39-40 points premium to the spot. The implied volatility on the Nifty August Options of ATM strike calls were at 17.14 and for puts were at 19.17. India VIX closed at 18.77. PCR for Nifty based on open interest was at 1.01 and PCR for the day based on volumes was at 0.93 for the market.
