Nifty opened around the previous close and soon started forming lower tops and lower bottoms and ended the day with sharp losses. Though, it was an expiry day and normally on such days the indices behave in a very erratic manner, buy yesterday was an exception as it turned out to be a trending day. The break of 6000 triggered stop loss for many long positions. It seems that this decline is a reversal and same will be confirmed on a move below 5850. On the higher side, rallies will find difficult to sustain above 6030-6045 resistance area. The intraday supports in Nifty are placed at 5880 and 5840, while the resistances for the day are seen at 5940 and then at 5985.
Nifty August Future has been trading at 35-36 points premium to the spot. The implied volatility on the Nifty August Options of ATM strike calls were at 14.39 and for puts were at 17.36. India VIX closed at 16.72. PCR for Nifty based on open interest was at 1.10 and PCR for the day based on volumes was at 1.18 for the market.
